About Dr. Wesner and Backpacker Pediatrics

Backpacker Pediatrics is a one-man traveling pediatric locums company staffed by Colby Wesner, DO.  Dr. Wesner was born, raised, trained, and continues to live and work in the beautiful state of Pennsylvania.  He has enjoyed caring for hospitalized children and newborns during his entire career.

 

Wesner formed Backpacker Pediatrics to help Pennsylvania hospitals fill their short term pediatric hospitalist staffing voids without having to absorb major costs when using a locums agency.  Trying to use a major agency to fill these staffing voids is very expensive for hospital administration.  In addition to needing to pay the physician, most major agencies charge the hospital a "finders fee."  Major agencies also need to reimburse the locums physician for their lodging and travel, all costs that ultimately trickle down to the hospital administration.   Backpacker Pediatrics eliminates these costs for the hospital, as Wesner loves traveling the state with his camping trailer and simple way of life.
